Sue Jones
Hi everyone
I present the Saturday morning ‘memories’ show from 10am which includes loads of golden oldies (just like me) and features to jog your memory such as the Classic Film, Record Rescue (you choose the album you would save in an emergency) and on this day in history. I also do a fun connection quiz where you can guess the connection to four records. Listeners are encouraged to e mail their fav films and albums to me for these features as well as setting the quiz.
I was born & brought up in North Wales and am very proud of my Welsh roots although Warrington is definitely my home now and I love it here. I was ‘press ganged’ into the radio after being interviewed at a disability sports event where I had taken some students from my school. From this you will gather that I am a teacher and I am based at Penketh High School so am also responsible for overseeing the Schools Out show which aires ever Saturday morning after my show – see our blog for more details.
In my very limited spare time I manage to cram loads in from fitness training and golf to world travel. Some of my most recent trips have included climbing Kilimanjaro, trekking to K2 in Pakistan, Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru and touring Brazil. Next year I am backpacking around Australia.
I also organize World Challenge Educational Expeditions for my students to tour and do community work in under developed countries. So far we have done projects in Mexico and Namibia and are currently planning our next trip to Ecuador in 2013. These expeditions are funded entirely by fundraisers, sponsorship and donations organized by myself, the students and their parents. Radio Warrington presenters have helped us at many of these and we advertise all our community events on the radio web page and in programmes.
