Brought up in Liverpool amongst the Mersey Beat in the sixties, Rob was always surrounded by music as the radio – or "wireless" as it was often called then - was always on, and he really did listen to Radio Luxembourg under the bedcovers.

Rob has always admired the skills of radio presenters as varied as Pete Murray, David Jacobs, Brian Mathew, Johnny Walker and Kenny Everett, and isn't ashamed to admit that he liked DLT and Noel Edmonds too. He feels privileged to have the chance to do his show on Radio Warrington, and thinks it's great that the station offers opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in broadcasting.

Rob enjoys visiting care and retirement homes to perform his "Roll Back the Years with Rob" show, and is also a well known DJ at modern jive events in the north west, with his own classes every Monday at Antrobus Village Hall where he enjoys playing classics from the past mixed with today's chart hits.

Rob has too many favourites to mention, but The Beatles and the Moody Blues hold a special place. But he's not too stuck in the past and counts the 2011 Take That concert as one of the best he's seen.

Away from the studio Rob indulges his retro passion by driving his 1972 MGB, and is a bit of an anorak as far as motor sport goes – attending his first British Grand Prix in 1969. His interest in the past comes in useful as far as his football passion goes too – but being a Liverpool supporter he hasn't had much to celebrate recently. He remembers well the ten minute walk from home to stand on the Kop to see Ian St John and Roger Hunt in the sixties.

Rob's been in Warrington since 1978, and he thinks it's a great place to live.
